In Greene County district court Jody Lyn Schad, 43, of Jefferson was sentenced Feb. 22 to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of operating without owner’s consent, amended from theft- first degree. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. Court costs were $140. Also, Schad’s probation was revoked in an earlier case in which was charged with driving while license revoked; and he will serve a two-year prison term in that case. The two terms are concurrent. Stephen Tracy Redding, 30, of Issaquah WI, was sentenced Feb. 25 to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serves, he must follow the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation, and he must complete a drinking drivers school at a community college. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time and community college course. Redding was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge; both were reduced by half because he was granted a temporary restricted license. He must pay a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE) and $140 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Thomas Edward Davidson Jr, 59, of Rippey was sentenced Feb. 27 to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serves, he must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation, and he must complete a drinking drivers school at a community college. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time and community college course. Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Robert Richard Kovar, 34,of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine- second offense; James Merrell Mosley, 46, of Fort Dodge, driving while license barred; and Bradley Erik Purdy, 22, of Rippey, sex abuse- second degree (two counts) and lascivious acts with a child- solicitation. Trial dates were set for May 14 for Kovar and Mosley, and for April 9 for Purdy.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Mikael Goran Winblad, 38, of Scranton, child endangerment; Shawn Annear, 43, of Adel, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness and criminal mischief- first degree; Greg William Hackler, 28, of Jefferson, driving while license barred; and Douglas Duane Owen, 36, of Churdan, driving while license barred.
